Free Product Promotion Set Up

If you are setting up a Free Product Promotion that is to be used across Telesales and Website, you will need to set up 4 promotions (for each store) for it to work

  1. Ensure you are in an Open Change Package in the staging environment, go to 'Merchandising' and click on 'Promotions' 
  2. Click 'Add New Promotion' - the first Promotion you need to set up is for a free product when ordering bespoke bottles on the website - enter the name and ensure you add a Group Name and make a note of it. 
  3. Add a start and end date, enter maximum applications and a priority (leave this as 10 for this promotion) select 'Web' only for where to fire it. 
  4. Choose whether to allow other promotions to fire and set voucher type as 'none' - add a Basket Message 
  5. Click the 'Promotion Rules' Tab and select 'Products in Basket' from the drop down.
  6. Select 'Free Product' from the second drop down and add a minimum basket value. Set the minimum purchase quantity as '12'
  7. Ensure 'include conditions' is ticked and click 'add new rule' under the 'Apply this promotion' section.
  8. On the popup that appears, search for a rule which defines wine_bottles.
  9. Click 'Add' and the rule will add to the promotion
  10. Next you need to define the free product - click on 'Add new product' under the 'Automatically add..' section
  11. On the popup that appears, search for the bottle which is to be used for the free product
  12. Click 'Select' and this will add to the promotion
  13. Save the promotion. Now you need to set up the promotion for Premixed cases on the website. Follow steps 1 - 5 - ensuring you use the same group name as before. Also make sure you set the priority as '20' so that the premixed offer takes precedence. 
  14. When you get to Promotion rules, choose 'free product' again from the drop down and enter your mimimum basket value, but this time in the minimum purchase quantity, enter '1' 
  15. Add new rule again, but this time find the rule to define premixed cases. Click 'Add' then add the free bottle definement as you did in step 11 & 12.
  16. Save the promotion. The website is now set up and ready. 
  17. To set up the Telesales promotion for Premixed, follow steps 1, 2 and 3 - but this time, instead of clicking 'Is enabled for web' click 'Is enabled for Telesales' 
  18. Continue to set up the promotion as you did for steps 14 & 15 and save the promotion. 
  19. Next you need to set up the free bottle for bespoked bottles on Telesales, this is slightly different in that you need to set up a 'Buy item A and get discount of Item B' promotion - to see how to set this up, click here - follow this process up until the rule definement, ensuring the Group Name is added and is the same and that you have only ticked 'Is enabled for Telesales' 
  20. When defining the Promotion Rule, add the minimum spend and define the 'discount type' as 'fixed_price' and set the discount amount as '0.00' 
  21.  Enter '12' in the item A quantity, and '1' in the item B quantity
  22. Click 'Add new rule' under the 'Item A' rule section and search for the rule which defines wine bottles like you did in step 8, add this rule
  23. Then click 'Add new rule' under the Item B rules section - you will need to have a rule set up which defines the free bottle. Add this to the promotion.
  24. Save the promotion and your free bottle promotion is now set up.
