Import Skew Templates into Salesforce
Login to Salesforce - If you are unable to login please raise a FORCE ticket
Search for Skew Templates using the App Launcher
Click on Skew Templates
On the list view screen click on the New button.
Add the your desired template name.
This will take you to the new, blank skew template.
Copy the 18 digit record ID. This is found in the url.
You will need the 18 digit record ID in the next step.
Now create the import file with the number of weeks you need present on the Skew Template.
Open Excel and add 2 column headers - Skew Template and Week Number as shown below.
Paste the record ID in the first column and the number of weeks you need in the second. Fo rthis example we need 34 weeks so will have 34 rows below the header. The same record ID in each row and the numbers 1-34.
Save as a new csv. file.
Now click the gear icon at the top right of the page.
Then click on set-up.
On the set-up search bar, search for ‘Data Import Wizard’.
Click on this option and then the ‘Lauch’ button to open the data import wizard
Click on the Custom Object tab and use ctrl+F to find the ‘Skew Template Line Items’ object and click on it.
This will show choices to add new or update records.
Choose ‘Add new records’. This will open options for you to set when importing the template.
If it is not already, change 'Which Skew Template field in your file specifies the Master/Detail relationship?' to: Salesforce.com ID
Now drag the csv file to the ‘Drag CSV file here to upload’ section and click ‘Next’.
On the next screen you should see the data already mapped correctly. This is why we labelled the columns is excel the way we did.
Click next. This will show you the summary screen with information about what is being imported. Click Start Import.
Click OK on the popup box.
This should now take you to the confirmation of the import. If the import fails you will receive an email.
Go back to the Skew Template list view and click on the new skew template. You should now see the desired number of weeks. You can now select the template for your skew records.
