If you have Inbox with Einstein Activity Capture, this page explains how it works, how to set it up & manage it and what it does.

Einstein Inbox with Activity capture automatically logs emails and events against the relevant Accounts, Contacts, Leads and Opportunities within Salesforce. It will show all emails automatically, however they cannot be reported on in detail as standard.

Once you have been granted access to use this, you will need to set it up yourself in both Outlook and through Salesforce - please watch this video to see how to do this.

Once it is set up and working, all activities captured with Einstein will appear on the Activity feed on the Account or Person Account, Lead or Opportunity

It will also show any Events created through outlook between you and that person.

The Salesforce Administrator has set up Einstein settings so that any email ending with 'virginwines.co.uk' will not link to Salesforce (This is so that any sensitive emails do not go onto accounts registered with your work address)

What it Can do

  • Shows Open/Unopened and when it was opened
  • Admins can set up 'Insights' where we can specify up to 10 custom labels so it alerts and can be analysed for certain words or phrases contained within an email
  • There are a few 'Standard' insights too.
  • Insights are used for Analytic Reporting (which differs to Standard reporting) - this is restricted

What it Cannot do

While this is a really nifty bit of kit, and is incredibly useful, there are some limitations -

  • Attachments and images do not get uploaded to Salesforce
  • The emails are not stored within Salesforce so you cannot report in detail on them, however you CAN report on 'Last Activity'
  • If an email needs to be removed from SF, then the only option is to delete every single email from that contact

  • No labels
