This guide explains how to get the VPN set up on Linux running in the Gnome desktop.

Note

You will need to be set up on Duo Mobile by a member of the IT Support team before following any of the below. If you change phones you will also need to contact IT.

Please raise a JIRA ticket or call 2222 if you need to be set up. The same is true if you are unsure if you are set up.

Virgin Wines VPN

Connecting to the VPN is pretty straightforward.

Firstly install the below packages.You can use the network-manager-openconnect-gnome package to configure and connect to the VPN.

First, let’s install the required packages

sudo apt install -y network-manager-vpncopenconnect-gnome network-manager-vpnc

Open the VPN settings and click on the + button to select a new VPN.

Select Cisco Compatible VPN (vpnc)

Fill out the below details:

  • Gateway: 46.227.52.84
  • Username: Your AD username in first 4 last 4 format
  • Password: Your AD password
  • Group name: virginwines
  • Group password: Provided by IT

Once it looks like the below move to the IPv4 Settings tab

Under the IPv4 tab fill in the below:

  • Additional DNS servers: 10.10.0.20, 10.10.0.21
  • Additional search domains: vwdomain.local

Once you have done this click on the Routes... button

Fill in the routes as they appear in the screenshot or from the table below. Once you have done this click OK then Save and click connect.

You will get a prompt on your phone from Duo to approve the connection if everything is working.

Next, let’s configure the VPN connection. Start by clicking the network icon located at the top-right of the screen and selecting the “settings” option.

You should be on the network tab. If so, click the plus sign just above the VPN section.

You should be met with a pop-up with some options depending on what you already have installed. Select “Multi-protocol VPN client (openconnect)”

You should now have the main configuration screen visible. Please see the screenshot below for the correct configuration settings. Once complete, click the IPv4 tab.

Configure the IPv4 settings then move onto the IPv6 tab.

Note, DNS should be: 10.10.0.15,10.20.0.15.

You can disable IPv6

Finally, click the Add button to lock in the configuration. You can also grab the Certificate Authority from here.
