When the Beta mode ends, we will change the way points are earned. From an agreed date in January, points will be awarded based on a number of rules based promotions.

...

  • A telesales only promotion which grants a set number of points based on ordering particular wine groups.
    • With this, an example promotion that has been tested i set the rule to be 'wine_bottles' and not 'Sparkling' - when ordering, if the basket on telesales includes wine and sparkling, then the points are still awarded, if the basket is fully sparkling, no point are awarded.
    • Setting a promotion to fire on products with a higher profit margin, again this is at a product level and you only need 1 product that hits the rule for points to be awarded
  • A ref value redirect, if customer lands on the website through a specified link, then certain points are added
  • Points can also be awarded for individual products - which will fire as many times as specified within the promotion, for example if it's applied to Perez Cruz with a maximum applications of 12, then if a customer adds 12 Perez Cruz bottles they will received 12 lots of points.
Info

It is very important to remember that any Virgin Red Points promotion MUST include a rule to define a product or product type. Otherwise it will not work.

Points can also be awarded for individual products - which will fire as many times as specified within the promotion, for example if it's applied to Perez Cruz with a maximum applications of 12, then if a customer adds 12 Perez Cruz bottles they will received 12 lots of points

To prevent multiples of the Virgin Red promotions firing, they should all be made part of a Group, in this case, 'Virgin Red Points' should be the group name. Each promotion should be given a priority, the higher the number the higher the priority - so only the highest priority promotion would fire based on the basket. For example, if you have 2 products in basket, one is part of the 250 points promotion and one is part of the 500 points promotion, then the 500 points would fire as that has the priority of '20' whereas the 250 has a priority of '10'

Returns & Refunds

The Virgin Red points do not get sent to Virgin Red until 21 days after the customer order has been dispatched.

If the order is fully Refunded or fully returned within that 21 day window, then the points will be cancelled and will not be sent to Virgin Red.

Points are still upheld for -

  • Partial Return & refunds (even if multiple partials are done to return/refund the whole order)
  • Exchange orders
  • Replacements

New functionality allows customers and agents to see how many points they will get.
